Student Visa Guide for MBBS Abroad

Documents, timelines, and country-specific visa requirements for Indian students pursuing MBBS at foreign universities.

Before You Apply for a Visa

A student visa application for MBBS abroad can only begin after you have received your formal admission letter (I-20 / invitation letter) from the university, and the NMC Eligibility Certificate. Start collecting documents at least 3 months before your intended departure date.

Critical order: Clear NEET → Get NMC Eligibility Certificate → Receive university admission letter → Apply for student visa → Travel.

Month 2 — University application

Apply to chosen universities. Receive conditional admission letters. Get NMC Eligibility Certificate.

Month 3 — Fee payment & invitation letter

Pay first-year tuition. University issues official invitation/admission letter. Notarise documents as required.

Month 4 — Visa application

Submit visa application at embassy with full document set. Attend interview if required.

Month 4–5 — Visa approval & departure

Receive visa. Complete pre-departure checklist. Travel and register at university.

⚠️ Start early. Embassy queues during peak season (July–September) can add 2–4 weeks to processing. Missing document requirements causes rejection — double-check every item.
